The Selection Process
Selection and processing are thorough. Only the finest wood with the richest texture is chosen. Hand-selected to favour wood with the fewest small knots, the process translates into an end product that looks cleaner and more consistent, with less variation between planks. All our French White Oak and Ash hardwoods are sourced ethically and harvested from forests with sustainable growth certifications. Forest stewardship programs ensure that deforestation is done with longevity and forest health at the forefront. These programs are so effective that genuine French White Oak has become one of the most sustainable hardwoods in the world. Even in this first stage of our flooring, our process abides by strict, environmentally responsible standards.
Ecological Milling of Hardwood
Flooring should be made with a deep respect for the environment, and milling is part of how we respect the planet. We are as efficient and green as possible with our milling process. Unlike most flooring brands that use Chinese products and factories, we process our timber in the Netherlands, where sawmills like ours are governed by strict ecological standards. Another significant benefit of running in-house sawmills is we're able to achieve an extremely high degree of consistency, run a rigorous quality control program, and ensure we get the highest yield possible from the trees we've harvested. When you buy Khayeri, you can rest assured knowing that your floor has been made with the preservation of our planet in mind.
How it is manufactured
Our wood is kern dried in chambers fueled with our own renewable energy source: sawmill residue. Our green power is also shared with over 3,000 surrounding households. This is very advanced by any industry standard, so we're exceptionally proud of it. The moisture content in our raw material is slowly extracted in order to stabilize the hardwood for usage in our fluctuating Canadian climate. We do this over a much longer time frame than is used in engineered hardwood that you'll find in big box stores. The raw material then undergoes a detailed selection process where we select for quality to ensure only the finest material is used to manufacture the planks. The old-growth European White Oak and Ash are then layered onto a thick marine Baltic ply support layer for structural stability. We have designed two types of structure layers, both specifically designed to withstand the drastic fluctuations in our Canadian climate-our Khayeri flooring experts will work with you to select the best Khayeri product for your home.
The Khayeri Signature Design
The products are finished using our proprietary Khayeri stains, finishes, and treatments. We use natural stain processes to achieve our beautiful and unique designer colour ranges hand-finished on both European Ash and White Oak species. We strive to improve everyday life experiences of interior spaces by offering a true artisan floor that is hand-made, fitted and finished. What's more, to create the perfect floors for you, we offer the most customization options and evolve our products to the latest in modern design.
From Distant Shores
Our care for the environment extends to our carbon footprint during shipping. All our Khayeri products are shipped to Canada via ocean transport and local rail. These ethods are known to be the least impactful on the environment. To serve you better, we store a high volume of inventory at our temperature-controlled warehouse.
